The Mount Vernon Community School District is moving forward in its search for a new superintendent.  The School Board, in its work with the Ray and Associates search firm, has chosen six candidates from a group of over twenty applicants to interview for the position.  The School Board will conduct confidential interviews in closed session with the six candidates this week and will choose a group of finalists from the field of six.  The finalists will then engage in public interviews with a variety of district stakeholders the week of January 29th.  It is anticipated that the Board will choose a new superintendent by the end of next week, with that person beginning in the role on July 1, 2024.
