2023 is an election year for school boards across and Iowa, and thus the Mount Vernon Community School District will conduct its school board election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. If you are interested in running for a seat on the Board, or know of someone who may be interested, please reach out to Michael Marshall at mmarshall@mvcsd.org, for more information. Mr. Marshall serves as the Secretary/Treasurer to the Board, and can answer questions you may have regarding the election process. The filing period for the election opens on Monday, August 28, 2023, and closes on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Those interested in running for the Board must gather the signatures of at least 50 Mount Vernon residents to secure a spot on the ballot. All pertinent paperwork for the election may be picked up at the District Office, or can be found on the website for the Secretary of State for the state of Iowa.
