Mount Vernon Community School District Families and Community Members:
The District continues to work toward making the proposed Mustang Activities Complex a reality, and we remain engaged with engineers and architects in the planning process for the facility. The lead engineer of the project will provide a project planning update to the Mount Vernon Community School District School Board during its next meeting on Monday, July 11, 2022. On that same day, the engineering team and MVCSD administrators will be available prior to the regular Board meeting to meet with community members who may have questions or concerns about the proposed project. These representatives will also be available to answer questions after the presentation to the Board. This is a good opportunity for you to learn more about the project if you are not aware of what is entailed in this project, and will be a time to learn about updates to the project design that continue to evolve as we engage in the planning process.
Here is a breakdown of the schedule on July 11, 2022:
5:00-6:30 p.m. – Design team and administrators available to community members to receive the latest updates on the project design.
6:30-7:00 p.m. – The lead engineer will provide a project update to the School Board during its regular meeting. This presentation will take place during the first part of the Board meeting.
7:00-7:30 p.m. – Individuals from the engineering team and MVCSD administrative team will be available for questions after the Board presentation.

This project financial plan, as approved by the School Board, consists of a combination of $2 million in private support, District facilities funds, and a facilities loan.
I want to remind everyone that while the School Board has approved the financial and project plan for the proposed Mustang Activities Complex, their final approval does not take place until they approve the project construction bid. The project cannot move forward until the Board approves a financially viable bid for construction of the project. Currently, we anticipate taking the project out for the bidding process in August of 2022, and will receive formal bids for consideration in September of 2022.
