Mount Vernon Community Members:

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Mount Vernon Community School District School Board will have a unique structure to it, as a public hearing regarding the proposed activities complex will be held as part of the meeting.  The start time of the meeting is also being adjusted to accommodate the schedules of the Board members.  Here is the structure for that evening:

Meeting Date:  Monday, May 9, 2022

Location:  MVHS Performing Arts Center Lobby

Time Schedule:

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.:  Mount Vernon administrators and representatives from Hall and Hall Engineering will be available to share details and answer questions regarding the proposed activities complex project.  This will be an informal, drop-in opportunity for community members to learn more about the project.  This is not a part of the regularly scheduled Board meeting, but is an opportunity for community members to receive information about the project.

7:30 p.m.:  The formal School Board meeting will begin at this time.  The meeting will begin with the public hearing related to the proposed activities complex.  The plan is to allot one hour for public comments/questions, an overview about the project from district officials, and a presentation from the representatives from Hall and Hall Engineering.  Follow-up meetings will be scheduled if this is not enough time to answer all questions from community members.

8:30 p.m.:  The rest of the regular School Board business will take place at this time.  If anyone has any business with the School Board not related to the activities complex discussion, this would be the time to join the meeting.  The one major agenda item for the regular meeting is a review of the school improvement goals of the three schools.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the May 9, 2022, meeting of the Mount Vernon Community School District School Board.

Sincerely,

Greg Batenhorst, Ed.D.
