The regular monthly meeting of the Mount Vernon Community School District School was held on June 3, 2024. The following topics were addressed during the meetings:
Approval Agenda: The Board approved the agenda as presented.
Public Comments: One community member provided public comment on the importance of reciting the pledge, and also allowing prayer in the school board meetings.
Superintendent Report: Dr. Batenhorst thanked the Board and the Mount Vernon community for its support throughout its tenure, and wished them the best of luck in the future. Dr. Batenhorst pledged his support as the District transitions to a new superintendent.
Program Division
Approval of Student Handbooks: The Board reviewed and approved the student handbooks for the three schools for the 2024-2025 school year.
Personnel Division: The Board approved the hiring of an elementary counselor and food service worker for the 2024-2025 school year. The Board also approved the contracts for the principals for the 2024-2025 school year.
Facility Division: No information was provided regarding facilities.
Administrative Division: The Board approved the Second Reading of a series of policies related to school finance and wellness.
Board Reports: No reports were offered during the meeting.
Consent Agenda: All the items for the Consent Agenda were approved as presented.
The Board met in closed session to review the Emergency Operations Plan, and then approved it for 2024-2025.
