The Graduation and Commencement ceremony for the Mount Vernon High School Class of 2021 is taking place on Sunday, May 23, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Mount Vernon High School Gymnasium. The doors will be open for seating at 1:00 pm. Measures will be in place to mitigate the potential impact of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and thus attendance at graduation is being limited to approximately 50% capacity. All guests will also be required to wear a mask during the ceremony. Each family of a member of the Class of 2021 is receiving six tickets to distribute as they wish within their circle of family and friends. Only people with pre-assigned tickets are allowed to attend the ceremony, and thus if you do not receive a ticket from the family of a graduate to attend the ceremony you will not be able to attend. The ceremony will be broadcast live through the District’s Mustang Vision platform.
Shortly after the ceremony is completed, the graduates will participate in a parade throughout Mount Vernon for those family members and community members that were unable to attend the ceremony. A map of the parade route is included with this letter, with the parade expected to begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. The parade will be canceled if weather conditions are not favorable.
